Avantus has announced the sale of the Catclaw Solar and Energy Storage Project to D.E. Shaw Renewable Investments (DESRI). Located in Buckeye, Arizona, the Catclaw project includes up to 225 MWac of solar power and 250 MW/1,000 MWh of energy storage. This transaction also includes a long-term Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) with Arizona Public Service (APS).

Avantus led the early development efforts, encompassing interconnection, site acquisition, permitting, commercial negotiations with APS, and securing select equipment, including batteries. The Catclaw project represents the fourth project sold by Avantus to DESRI, which plans to bring it online by 2026. The project is expected to provide substantial clean energy output, contributing to Arizona’s renewable energy goals and strengthening regional energy storage capacity.
