ACCIONA Energía has finalised a deal to sell 100 per cent of Acciona Saltos de Agua, S.L. group to Elawan Energy, a subsidiary of ORIX Corporation, with the transaction being debt-free. Furthermore, Crédit Agricole serves as the financial advisor.

The ASA portfolio, comprising 23 hydroelectric plants with a total capacity of 175 MW in Aragón, Cantabria, and Cataluña, is expected to close by year-end pending foreign direct investment approval. It will yield an estimated capital gain of €170 million for ACCIONA Energía.

The hydro portfolio accounts for 20 per cent of ACCIONA Energía’s total hydroelectric capacity and produces approximately 500 GWh annually. The portfolio consists of reservoir and run-of-river plants, which range from small to medium-scale hydropower assets, with long-term concession agreements averaging 23 years.

In September 2023, ACCIONA Energía acquired the 280 MW Forty Mile wind farm in Bow Island, Alberta, Canada, from Renewable Energy Systems Canada (RES). RES will remain involved as the contractor for the project’s remaining construction, with operations anticipated to begin in early 2025.
