Reportedly, Reliance Infrastructure Limited’s power distribution companies are set to recover USD2.44 billion in dues as the Supreme Court of India has ruled in favour of distribution companies stemming from historical tariff shortfalls.
The court order mandates that regulators compensate for past discrepancies where approved tariffs did not reflect actual power supply costs. The dues will be recovered over four years starting April 2024 under the supervision of the Delhi Electricity Regulatory Commission. The apex court also directed regulators across the country to audit similar deferred cost claims and present structured recovery plans, setting a precedent for other distribution companies.
