Juno Joule Green Energy Private Limited has signed a MoU with the German company Select Energy GmbH to co-develop a green hydrogen and ammonia export facility at Mulapeta port in Andhra Pradesh. The planned investment for the project is $1.3 billion. The project will be developed in three phases and aims to produce 180,000 tonnes per annum of green hydrogen by 2029. This hydrogen will be converted into up to one million tonnes of green ammonia annually for export purposes.
The partnership encompasses equity participation and development of ammonia export terminals, and establishment of port-connected logistics infrastructure. It also aligns with European Union frameworks such as Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin and Renewable Energy Directives II and III. The agreement includes a long-term offtake arrangement featuring a blended pricing model. The facility will utilise electrolysers powered by solar, wind, and hydropower, supported by a desalination unit to provide high-purity water for hydrogen production. Technology partners for the project include Thyssenkrupp Nucera and KBR Incorporated.
Construction is scheduled to begin in 2026. Coordination is underway with logistics partners in Germany and the Netherlands to facilitate global exports. The project is projected to generate between 5,000 and 6,000 jobs across construction, logistics, operations, and ancillary sectors. Additionally, it is estimated to prevent 1.8 million tonnes of carbon emissions annually once fully operational.
