Matrix Renewables has closed a €40 million non-recourse financing from UniCredit. This financing will support the development and construction of six solar photovoltaic (PV) plants across Sicily, Campania, and Lombardia. The projects have a total capacity of 40 MW and construction for these projects commenced in September 2024.
Operations are scheduled to begin in the first quarter of 2025. Additionally, these projects are also expected to generate full-time jobs during the construction phase. Once operational, the solar portfolio is expected to generate clean energy sufficient to power around 27,500 Italian households annually.
Companies are actively investing in Italy’s renewable energy market. Earlier in December 2024, The European Investment Bank (EIB) and SACE’s Archimede Guarantee-backed Iberdrola inked a €100 million green loan to construct a photovoltaic plant in Italy. The plant was expected to have a renewable energy generation capacity of 242.78 MWp sufficient to cater to the needs of approximately 154,000 Italian households.
