Senvion India has partnered with Germany-based Voodin Blade Technology GmbH to develop and manufacture high-performance wooden wind turbine blades for its 4.2 MW platform. This collaboration will begin with a comprehensive feasibility study to assess the technical, economic, and environmental potential of wooden turbine blades, followed by the installation and testing of prototype blades.
This initiative, built on Voodin’s successful deployment of prototype wooden blades in Germany in 2024 represents a major advancement in addressing one of the wind industry’s most pressing challenges—blade recyclability—by incorporating engineered wood, a renewable and recyclable material, into turbine blade manufacturing. Furthermore, Voodin’s LVL production technology eliminates the need for moulds, significantly reducing energy consumption during manufacturing and ensuring consistent quality through advanced automation.
In September 2024, Senvion India bagged an order from Continuum Green Energy to provide them with 50 wind turbine generators with a total capacity of 210 MW, with the deliveries set to begin from April 2026.
