The UK Government has granted approval for the extension of the Dudgeon offshore wind project, which is a collaboration between Masdar, Equinor, and China Resources Power. On April 17 2024, the UK Secretary of State for the Department of Energy Security and Net Zero, granted the development consent for Dudgeon Extension.

Masdar holds a 35 per cent stake in both the original Dudgeon project and its extension. Dudgeon Extension has been recognized as a Pathfinder project for coordinated offshore transmission development as part of the UK Government’s Offshore Transmission Network Review. This approval includes the possibility of utilising an integrated transmission system.

The extension project will incorporate up to 30 offshore wind turbines and foundations. With this consent, Dudgeon Extension can advance to the next phase of development. Once completed, it is expected to provide renewable energy to around 440,000 households in the UK, contributing to the country’s decarbonization objectives. Masdar, in partnership with its collaborators, will now proceed with the development of the extension towards making a Final Investment Decision.
