Kolkata : Vikram Solar Limited is taking its role as KKR’s official Clean Energy Advocate to new heights, blending technology with a strong sense of social responsibility. Leveraging the cricket season’s excitement, for every 6 sixes hit by KKR players this season, the company will directly contribute to the solarization of homes across the country, marking an ambitious step forward in the drive for renewable energy and community empowerment. The beneficiaries of this initiative are being selected through a contest hosted on Vikram Solar’s social media platforms.

Here’s the link to the contest: Vikram Solar: Sunshine that power champions

At the heart of all initiatives is a deeply rooted connection to both environmental sustainability and the community. Vikram Solar’s eco-conscious efforts extend beyond the cricket field. The company recently executed a tree-planting initiative at its Falta facility in West Bengal. In a heartfelt tribute to the spirit and contribution of each KKR player, twenty-four children — the ‘Sunshine Ambassadors’ aged 6 to 12 — planted saplings in their honour. This green gesture stands as a symbol of admiration, gratitude, and a shared commitment to a sustainable future.

At a recent event, these young participants had the opportunity to meet the players and present them with a special certificate. Each certificate featured a unique QR code, which will enable individual Knight Riders to track the growth and impact of their trees. This interactive, tech-enabled feature reflects a modern, forward-thinking approach to sustainability—fostering a real-time, personal connection to the environment.

Gyanesh Chaudhary, Chairman and Managing Director of Vikram Solar, said “These initiatives are about creating a ripple effect that extend far beyond the cricket season. They are about driving change in how we approach energy and the environment. By enabling people to directly engage with the environmental initiatives, Vikram Solar is building a bridge between the virtual and real world, pushing the boundaries of traditional sustainability efforts.

Our vision is of a solar powered nation. Through these efforts we aim to not only change the way people think about energy but also give back to communities in a way that is impactful, inclusive, and future-forward. As Vikram Solar continues to innovate and lead by example, our efforts stand as a testament to the power of collaboration, technology, and community in shaping a brighter, more sustainable future.”

Mr. Venky Mysore, CEO of Kolkata Knight Riders, said “Cricket has always been more than just a game for us at KKR – it’s about creating positive impact beyond the boundaries. Our partnership with Vikram Solar represents our shared vision of a sustainable future, where sixes hit by our players now power homes across India. The tree planting initiative involving young Sunshine Ambassadors beautifully connects our players with environmental stewardship. We’re proud to collaborate on these innovative efforts that harness the popularity of cricket to drive meaningful environmental and social change.”
