Vena Energy and LINE Yahoo Corporation (LYC) have inked a virtual power purchase agreement (VPPA) centered on the Maniwa Solar Project. This is a 72 MW solar project and will be built on a repurposed golf course in Maniwa City, Okayama Prefecture. It is expected to be operational by 2026.
Furthermore, this clean energy output will be traded on the Japan Electric Power Exchange (JEPX) through Digital Grid Corporation. This agreement also enables LYC to power part of its operations with clean energy. The project can generate clean energy sufficient to cater to the annual consumption of approximately 18,500 households.
Earlier in September 2024, Vena Energy partnered with Shell Eastern Trading and received conditional approval from Singapore’s Energy Market Authority (EMA) to export 400 MW of solar power from Indonesia’s Riau Islands to Singapore. The EMA granted the conditional approval at the Indonesia International Sustainability Forum in Jakarta.
