Global Energy Alliance for People and Planet (GEAPP) will collaborate with the Uttar Pradesh Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) to develop a 450-500 MW solar park on the Bundelkhand Expressway. This pilot project in India, will establish a green energy corridor across the expressway. Around 450 MW of solar power can be installed along the expressway’s designated land area of 15-20 metres on both sides.
The main objective of the project is to enhance energy supply, promote electric vehicle (EV) adoption, and provide clean energy to surrounding villages. The solar park has an available land area of 1,700 hectares. The project is estimated to cost approximately Rs 18 billion and will generate electricity at a competitive rate. It has a total project term extending for 25 years from the commercial operation date.
In October 2022, UPEIDA issued a tender inviting bids to develop a solar park of capacity between 450 and 500 MW along the Bundelkhand Expressway. The solar park will be developed on a build-own-operate model. The final date for submitting bids is November 15, 2024.
