Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Ministry of Power, Government of India is presenting National Energy Conservation Awards every year for different sector based on their contribution towards energy conservation in the respective sector. The Awards will be given to Industries, State Designated Agencies, Urban Local bodies, Energy Efficient Appliances, Transport, Buildings & institutions etc.
State Designated Agencies will be awarded based on their performance in implementation of various energy conservation programmes in their respective State. This year the 30th National Energy Conservation Awards programme will be conducted on 11th January 2021 through virtual mode. Under State Designated Agencies category, Telangana State Renewable Energy Development Corporation Limited (TSREDCO) is selected for State level performance. TSREDCO has effectively supporting and implementing following energy conservation programmes in the state of Telangana.
In this regard, Shri N Janaiah, VC & MD thanked Shri K Chandra Sekhar Rao garu Hon`ble Chief Minister of Telangana State, Shri G Jagadish Reddy garu, Hon`ble Minister of Energy, Telangana state & Shri Sandeep Kumar Sultaniagaru, IAS, Secretary to Government, Energy department and all other stakeholders for their continuous support in achieving this award.
Energy Conservation Building Code: Telangana is the first in practical implementation of Energy Conservation Building Code (ECBC) for commercial buildings through the online development permission management system of all the Urban Local Bodies. Also, Telangana is the first state in India incorporated ECBC in the state specific municipal act. With the mandatory ECBC compliance in the state more than 137 buildings are complied with an estimated energy savings of 65 million units.
LED Streetlights Programme: Telangana state has successfully implemented the replacement of conventional streetlights with Energy Efficient LED streetlights in 73 urban local bodies. In Telangana state more than 12 lakhs LED streetlights have been installed which has saved 468 MUs of Energy in the state. Further, TSREDCO is initiating the implementation of LED streetlights programme in 12753 Gram Panchayats across the state.
Distribution of Energy Efficient Appliances: The distribution of various energy efficient appliances such as 9W LED bulbs, 20 W LED Tube lights and 28W Brush Less DC (BLDC) fans at affordable price to end user is under progress in the state. As of now, by this initiative 491 Million units of energy has been saved.
Perform, Achieve & Trade Scheme: Perform, Achieve and Trade (PAT) Scheme under National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency is also under implementation in the state. As PAT is a multicycle scheme for the designated consumers, Telangana state is actively involved in its successful implementation and completed first three cycles of the scheme. 2.45 lakh metric tonnes of oil equivalent of energy have been saved under this programme in Telangana State in the first two cycles.
Energy Conservation Day & week Celebrations and Energy Conservation Awards: In Telangana state, Energy conservation week celebrations have been organised every from December 14 to 20, where TSREDCO is organising various energy conservation awareness programmes across the state. Government of Telangana is also encouraging the stakeholders who made serious attempts in energy efficiency with Telangana State Energy Conservation Awards every year on December 20.
Energy Efficiency Demonstrations: Apart from these national flagship programmes, Government of Telangana is also implementing various energy efficiency demonstration programmes sin due consultation with Bureau of Energy Efficiency such as State Partnership for Energy Efficiency Demonstrations, Energy efficient Government school programme, Model Energy Efficient Village Campaign etc. Since 2017-18 to 2019-20, under various Energy efficiency demonstration programme, around 4.6 million units of energy has been saved.
