TotalEnergies has inked an agreement with RWE to acquire a 50 per cent stake in two offshore wind projects, N-9.1 and N-9.2, in the North Sea. Both projects, each with a capacity of 2 GW, are situated 110 km off the German coast. The projects come with 25-year licences that can be extended to 35 years. This deal strengthens TotalEnergies’ presence in the German offshore wind market, building on its existing N-12.1, N-11.2, and O-2.2 concessions.
Moreover, preliminary environmental, geological, and oceanographic studies have been carried out by the German Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency. These studies will provide critical data to help RWE and TotalEnergies plan the development of the wind farms. Both parks are expected to be operational in 2031 and 2032, respectively.
Earlier this year, TotalEnergies and Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) established a joint venture (JV) aimed at advancing solar energy projects in India. The JV will focus on creating a solar portfolio in Khavda, Gujarat, with a total capacity of 1,150 MW (1,575 MWp). Both companies will share equal ownership of the venture.
