The Plantation Corporation of Kerala (PCK) has issued an Expression of Interest (EOI) inviting bids for a total capacity of 50 MW solar power projects to be developed at its Kasaragod and Cheemeni estates in the Kasaragod district. The proposed projects include a 20 MW plant in Kasaragod and a 30 MW plant in Cheemeni. The deadline for bid submission is January 3, 2025. PCK seeks technically competent and financially robust bidders to ensure the timely execution of the projects.
According to the eligibility criteria, the bidders must have prior experience in solar power generation, with a minimum capacity of 10 MW for the 20 MW project and 20 MW for the 30 MW project. Eligible bidders can include single companies, joint companies, special purpose vehicles, or joint ventures. Additionally, the bidder must have an operational office and service facility in India. The financial criteria specify an annual turnover of Rs 300 million for the 20 MW project and Rs 500 million for the 30 MW project. The bidding team must include at least two electrical engineers and one civil engineer, each with a minimum of five years of experience in solar power project implementation.
In September 2024, Kerala State Electricity Board Limited signed an agreement with the Solar Energy Corporation of India Limited to purchase 500 MW of solar power at Rs 3.49 per unit starting September 2026 for 25 years.
