The 91kW project has replaced 6630 sq. ft. of asbestos roofs at the company’s production facility in Bengaluru with an energy-generating roof made exclusively of Solar Panels.

Installed at a height of 10 meters (33 ft.), the InRoof covers the roof with integrated solar panels, walkways, safety lines, and a fall arrest system to meet with global safety requirements of Ashirvad Pipes (an Aliaxis Group company).

The system was tested against water ingress in Bangalore’s inclement and unpredictable weather conditions and the installation was completed in a record time of 30 days.

The Ornate InRoof has been built using 200 high-efficiency Mono-PERC modules with dual-cell technology, with each panel equipped with the latest generation of IQ7 Microinverters from Enphase Energy.

This advanced technology provides high production, enhanced reliability, leading intelligence, and complete panel-level monitoring that can be tracked in real time from anywhere.

The patented assembly is the first-of-its-kind integrated solar system that can incorporate panels of any shape and size to replace conventional sheet metal to serve as a primary roof for industries. Designed, engineered, and manufactured by Ornate Solar’s in-house team, it can accommodate up to 26 percent more solar panels than conventional roof-mounted solar systems.

By eliminating sheet roofing and leaving space for free air circulation, the structure reduces module back sheet temperature by 15℃ and raises panel generation by approximately 10 percent.

Since the existing PV structure at the Ashirvad factory was not equipped to handle the weight of solar modules, it was reinforced with additional bracing. The engineering team developed a strategy to complete the installation without causing any disruptions to the factory operations below.

“The InRoof is a product of our continuous attempt to reimagine sustainability at Ornate Solar. We’re also super proud that we were trusted by Ashirvad Pipes and Aliaxis to build Karnataka’s First 100% Waterproof InRoof. We’re obliged for the belief that Sunil Banthiya had in the idea, the trust that his team had in us.” said Mr. Aditya Goel, Executive Director, Ornate Solar.

Ashirvad Pipes (part of Aliaxis group) is the world’s largest uPVC pipe company, and a pioneer in the water management industry of India. Founded in 1998, the company has expanded its presence to over 40 countries with its innovative offerings for plumbing, sanitary, and drainage applications.

The InRoof solution, which is part of Ashirvad Pipes’ ongoing commitment to sustainability and renewable energy, is expected to generate 1,50,000 units of energy annually, resulting in an estimated savings of ₹10.5 lakhs for Ashirvad Pipes. Further, the system will prevent 2875 tons of C02 emissions by generating clean energy.
