Origis Energy has secured the financial closing of the Wheatland solar project with MUFG. The portfolio financing package of over $530 million supports two projects of Origis Energy. The first is the Wheatland Solar project, which will provide 150 MWac of solar capacity. It is situated in Knox County, Indiana, and is slated for completion in the first half of 2026. Additionally, it is supported by a power purchase agreement (PPA) with CenterPoint Energy.
The second project is the Optimist solar plus storage project in Clay County, Mississippi. It will deliver 200 MWac of solar power and 50 MW with four hours of energy storage. The project is supported by a PPA with the Tennessee Valley Authority and is expected to be operational by early 2026. The Optimist portion of the MUFG deal closed in late 2024. Furthermore, Origis Energy serves as the developer, owner, and operator for both projects.
Earlier in January 2025, Origis Energy secured financial close for the Swift Air solar project in Ector County, Texas. The funding package was of $415 million, comprising term debt and tax equity financing from Natixis Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) and Advantage Capital.
