NHPC Announces Winners for 1.2 GW ISTS Solar Projects

NHPC India has declared the winners for developers to set up 1.2 GW interstate transmission system (ISTS)-connected solar power projects in India. The tender was released in May 2024. The winners include Essar Renewables (300 MW), Jevargi Solar (Rays Infra) (200 MW), Onward Solar (50 MW), Avaada Energy (350 MW) and Mahindra Susten (300 MW). Essar Renewables, Jevargi Solar (Rays Infra) and Onward Solar had a quoted bid of Rs 2.56 per kWh while Avaada Energy and Mahindra Susten quoted Rs 2.57 per kWh.

According to the tender guidelines, the total capacity for the bidders could be 1,200 MW with the greenshoe option but only 600 MW without it. The bidders had also submitted the possible project locations when submitting the bids.

In September 2024, NHPC was accorded with the Navratna status. In July 2024, NHPC Renewable Energy Limited signed a MoU with Tata Power Renewable Energy Limited for the installation of rooftop solar projects on government buildings across central ministries, states, and union territories.
