Ahmedabad: Dr. Faruk G. Patel, the visionary Chairman and Managing Director (MD) of KP Group, a leading renewable energy enterprise from Gujarat, delivered an inspiring lecture at IIM Ahmedabad, focusing on the critical role of values, ethics, and humanity in achieving lasting business success. Invited to address a select group of 40 students at a special session led by Professor Sunil Maheshwari, Dean of Alumni and External Affairs, Dr. Patel shared his profound insights and personal experiences over the course of an hour, followed by an engaging Q&A session.

Dr. Patel, whose journey from being the son of a bus conductor to overcoming multiple downfalls and hitting rock bottom in his business career, is a testament to resilience. He began by emphasizing the unwavering importance of staying true to one’s values and ethics in the business world. He passionately argued that when humanity and the desire to make a meaningful impact on others are prioritized, success follows naturally, with divine forces lending their support. He urged students to channel their ambitions toward endeavours that benefit future generations and contribute to the greater good.

Drawing upon historical examples, Dr. Patel highlighted why figures like Prophet Muhammad, Lord Krishna, Jesus Christ, Mahatma Gandhi, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and Subhash Chandra Bose remain venerated to this day. The enduring reverence for these leaders, he explained, stems from the timeless values they espoused, which continue to guide humanity. He encouraged students to aspire to leave a legacy grounded in humanity, stressing that it is through good deeds and ethical conduct that one can be remembered for generations.

In his address, Dr. Patel underscored the importance of courage, integrity, honesty, and hard work in business, equating these qualities with true success. He reminded students that religious teachings across various faiths consistently advocate for truthfulness, justice, and a humanitarian approach – principles that, when woven into the fabric of one’s life, lead inevitably to success. Citing the 16th chapter of the Bhagavad Gita, he reinforced that these values are not just moral imperatives but practical guides for a fulfilling and successful life.

Dr. Patel’s lecture was a powerful call to action for future business leaders to uphold ethics and humanity as the cornerstones of their careers, inspiring them to build a legacy that transcends financial achievements.
