The state-owned Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) is expected to complete the 132 kV Narok–Bomet line in 11 months.
The new line will also help alleviate strain on the 132 kV Muhoroni–Chemosit and Kisumu–Muhoroni lines, both grappling with overload issues. The scope of the project involved the construction of a 81-km line connecting parts of South Rift and South Nyanza to the Olkaria geothermal fields. This KES2.1 billion project is being financially supported by the African Development Bank and the Korea Exim Bank. Kenya Power highlighted the strategic termination of Olkaria–Lessos–Kibos line 2 at Lessos as a crucial step for voltage stabilisation.
