Hero Solar Energy, Ganeko Solar (Zelestra), Juniper Green Energy, ReNew, and Avaada emerged as the winners in SJVN’s auction to supply 1,200 MW of firm and dispatchable power. This power will be supplied from inter-state transmission system (ISTS)-connected renewable energy projects with energy storage systems under tariff-based competitive bidding (FDRE II). Juniper, ReNew, Zelestra, and Hero secured 200 MW, 150 MW, 140 MW, and 120 MW, respectively, at a tariff of Rs 4.25 per kWh. Avaada was awarded 590 MW at the tariff of Rs 4.26 per kWh.
This tender allows the use of only commercially proven and operational technologies to minimise technology risks and ensure timely project commissioning. The wind turbines used in the projects must be type-certified models from the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy’s Revised List of Models and Manufacturers. Similarly, the solar photovoltaic modules must be from List-I under the Approved Models and Manufacturers of Solar Photovoltaic Modules.
In August 2024, SJVN Green Energy floated a tender for the engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) of a 75 MW solar power project in Banka, Bihar. In July 2024, they issued a request for proposals for selection of developers to establish 1,200 MW inter-state transmission system (ISTS) connected wind-solar hybrid projects.
