Hero Future Energies (HFE) has commissioned a 29 MWp solar project in Chitradurga, Karnataka, aimed at the commercial and industrial (C&I) sector. The open-access plant is expected to generate 33 million units of renewable energy annually, reducing carbon emissions by 31,624 tonnes per year.

The project supplies power to multiple corporations under long-term power purchase agreements, including BASF India Limited, KEMS Forging Limited, VRKP Sponge and Power Plant, and Aurigene Oncology Limited.

Earlier this month, HFE signed an MoU with the Karnataka government to invest Rs 110 billion in renewable energy, green hydrogen, and derivative projects, set to commence in 2025-26.

In July 2024, HFE partnered with Rayzon Solar in advancing sustainable energy solutions to launch a 200 MW solar project in Karnataka. This initiative is expected to reduce carbon emissions by an estimated 350,000 to 375,000 tonnes annually.
