NEW DELHI:— Electronics Sector Skills Council of India (ESSCI), in a landmark collaboration with the District Mineral Foundation Trust (DMFT), Bokaro, today announced the successful culmination of their joint skill development initiative, which has empowered 600 young individuals from mining-affected areas of Jharkhand. The project’s completion was marked by a specialized placement drive held today, where numerous industry partners extended job offers to the newly certified Multi Skill Technicians.

This ambitious 18-month program, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding in July 2024, focused on providing comprehensive training to youth in Bokaro. The curriculum was meticulously designed to be industry-aligned, encompassing a 600-hour NSQF-compliant “Multi Skill Technician (Electrical)” course, complemented by an additional 150 hours of “Remote Help Desk Technician Training.” ESSCI established dedicated training centers, ensuring state-of-the-art facilities, practical exposure, and essential learning resources.

The success of the program was underscored at today’s placement drive, a pivotal event where the trained candidates directly engaged with prospective employers. Leading companies from the electronics and related sectors participated, actively recruiting from the pool of skilled talent. This drive is a testament to the program’s effectiveness in bridging the skill gap and preparing youth for immediate employment.

“This partnership with DMFT is a clear demonstration of how targeted skill development can drive transformation,” said Saleem Ahmed, Officiating Head of ESSCI. “We’re not just training individuals—we’re opening pathways to sustainable livelihoods. The response from employers at today’s placement drive speaks volumes about the quality and relevance of the training provided.”

The initiative also reflects ESSCI’s strong placement mandate, with a 70% placement target spanning both wage and self-employment opportunities. The DMFT, Bokaro, played a pivotal role in the project’s on-ground execution and monitoring, ensuring accountability and local alignment.

More than just a training program, this collaboration is being hailed as a model for replicable, high-impact partnerships between skilling institutions and regional development bodies—one that aligns with the national vision of a ‘Skilled India’ and equitable economic growth.
