CtrlS Datacenters Limted has unveiled a 125 MWp captive solar farm, GreenVolt 1, in Nagpur, Maharashtra. Phase I of the solar farm, with a capacity of 62.5 MWp, commenced operations in June 2024. The plant utilises n-type solar panels, which provide higher energy output while requiring less land. Phase II, with an additional 62.5 MWp capacity, is currently under implementation. Upon completion, the total capacity will enable the Mumbai datacenter campus to source 60 per cent of its power from solar energy.
CtrlS Datacenters aims to develop over 1,000 MW of renewable energy capacity across India by 2030, with ongoing investments in Maharashtra, Uttar Pradesh, and Karnataka. Additionally, the company operates 15 datacenters across eight key markets and plans to expand its datacenter capacity to over 600 MW by 2029.
In May 2024, CtrlS partnered with SunSource Energy to commission a solar power project at its Noida data center, with energy sourced from SunSource Energy’s open access facility in Gursarai, Jhansi district, Uttar Pradesh, which will produce 100 GWh of clean power, reduce carbon emissions by over 94,640 tonnes, and meet 60 per cent of the data center’s annual energy needs with renewable sources.
