Bharat Coking Coal Limited (BCCL), a subsidiary of Coal India Limited (CIL), has successfully monetised the 2 million tonnes per annum Dugda Coal Washery in Bokaro, Jharkhand, marking the first-ever coal washery monetisation in India.
This initiative, undertaken under the guidance of the Ministry of Coal, aims to optimise underutilised assets, encourage private participation, enhance coal beneficiation, and generate revenue. The move is expected to reduce India’s reliance on imported coking coal, strengthening energy security and contributing to Atmanirbhar Bharat. By integrating private sector expertise, the monetisation will improve supply chain efficiency, create employment opportunities, and support industrial growth in Jharkhand and neighboring regions.
