Ather Energy, an electric two-wheeler manufacturer in India, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Amara Raja Advanced Cell Technologies (ARACT), a subsidiary of Amara Raja Energy & Mobility (ARE&M). In this collaboration Amara Raja will develop and supply Nickel Manganese Cobalt and Lithium Iron Phosphate lithium-ion cells to Ather.

Ather Energy designs and manufactures battery packs in-house. It operates two manufacturing facilities in Hosur, Tamil Nadu—one for battery production and the other for vehicle assembly. The company has announced plans to open a third facility in Maharashtra. In May 2022, Magenta ChargeGrid and Ather Energy partnered to install electric charging stations.

Amara Raja has committed an investment of Rs 95 billion to build a 16 GWh capacity in Telangana. The company is also establishing ‘ePositive Energy Labs,’ a research and innovation center in Hyderabad.
