Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has signed a Letter of Intent (LoI) with Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) for a long-term power purchase agreement (PPA). The company will supply 5 GW of solar energy from the Khavda solar park to Maharashtra. Additionally, Adani Solar Power will sign a Power supply agreement (PSA) with MSEDCL to supply 1,496 MW thermal power from the company’s 1,600 MW thermal plant.

The total 6,600 MW agreements were acquired through a competitive bidding process initiated by MSEDCL for procurement of combined 1600 MW thermal and 5000 MW solar power. Adani Power was allowed to bid for the thermal power and the 5 GW solar capacity on behalf of AGEL. As of June 2024, 37 per cent of the total energy supplied to Mumbai by Adani Power is renewable energy.

In September 2024, AGEL and Total Energies agreed to form a new joint venture to develop a solar portfolio in Khavda, Gujarat, with a capacity of 1,150 MW (1,575 MWp). In April 2024, AGEL surpassed 10 GW of renewable energy installations comprising solar power of 7,393 MW, wind power of 1,401 MW, and hybrid wind-solar capacity of 2,140 MW. Further, in March2024, AGEL successfully operationalised 1 GW of 30 GW Khavda renewable energy park
